A painting portraying the fragility & sensitivity of autistic emotions and how intensely they can feel. Autistic (& other neurodivergent) people can be extremely sensitive to rejection (rsd) even if it's small, but that's enough for thoughts to ruminate & for emotions to grow out of control. Small cracks can lead to bigger breaks, and bigger breaks can lead to explosions of big emotions, ripping your heart into pieces because you can no longer contain it. A burst of emotions that feels messy, bloody & gory. Leaving your heart fractured and your emotions in pieces.
This hand painted exploding heart has 3D textures throughout the piece, and has been finished with multiple layers of varnish, carefully placed to give a 3D effect when the light hits.
"Fractured feelings" took around 50 hours total to complete, spread out from late 2022 to its completion in early 2024, painting when only feeling the emotion conveyed.
